Surrounding the lake is a large number of volcanic implosion craters, numerous waterfalls and ravines, an archaeological site, Maasai bomas, and the famous Ol Doinyo Lengai, also known as the ‘Mountain of God’. The surface of Lake Natron, which has high salt, magnesite and sodium carbonate concentration, is covered with a pinkish-white soda crust.
